A medida foi sancionada pelo Governador do Estado Helder Barbalho e publicado no Diário Oficial do Estado (DOE). Esses dois pratos típicos da culinária Paraense, estão plenamente integrados a identidade e a cultura do Pará.
A venda desses alimentos deliciosos, estão sempre presentes na mesa dos paraenses, seja em datas comemorativas como em ocasiões especiais que é o caso do Círio de Nazrae , esses alimentos não podem faltar no almoço do Círio de Nazaré, a mais importante festividade religiosa do Pará.

A maniçoba se tornou patrimônio cultural de natureza imaterial pela lei n° 9.601/2022, e o pato no tucupi por meio da Lei estadual n° 9.606/2022. As regulamentações foram aprovadas pela Assembleia Legislativa do Pará (Alepa) no mês de maio.
